In 2016, it was reported that at least 21 young women from Kerala had been taken to Syria and Iraq by ISIS after being lured into relationships with Muslim men. Many of these women were reportedly forced into marriages and used as sex slaves by the Islamic group.

Despite the controversy surrounding Love Jihad, many Muslim organizations have denied any involvement in the practice, stating that it goes against the principles of Islam.

What’s the Solution?

It is essential that steps are taken to prevent young Hindu women from being coerced into relationships or forced to convert to another religion against their will. 

The government and civil society must work together to raise awareness about the dangers of Love Jihad and to provide support to victims and their families.
